WORD Wednesday

I know, I know - it's supposed to be WORDLESS Wednesday, but I have things to share and with company coming Saturday and a flight to take next Wednesday, I thought I'd better get some blogging done!

Do you ever wish you could either:

A) Move, build a new house and start all over?
B) Take everything out of your house and hose it all down inside and then start over?
C) Move into a picture you found online?

The picture above is my choice "C" (not that I don't also want to do A and B!).  Aqua painted floorboards, red and white quilt, blue plates above the window, and just look at that headboard! Yummy!

We recently made some big changes around here...extended our cement driveway, had a pad poured for an outside shed for the animals, designed an electric iron driveway gate, and (drumroll please) bought new family room furniture!  Oh, and hubby measured, ordered and installed 30 wooden blinds!!!  I did not, however, get to go with red white and aqua...but I am doing an Americana theme in one of the guest rooms.  My lovely momma made me a gorgeous red white and blue quilt and I'm using it on a queen bed with a white dust ruffle and my guests (SIL and her DH) arrive Saturday so I can't wait to show them their room.  I'll post some pix on here as soon as the finishing touches are in place.

This is pretty much my kitchen (you can look in my archives on here to really see my kitchen).  Same layout, although I have open shelving above my stove.  I'm madly in love with the tiled backsplash.  I made an idiot move and put beadboard behind my stove.  Guess what?  Every splatter shows up and it takes true gymnastic skills to get up there and clean it.  We want to have a faucet installed above the stove to fill large pots and pans...and I'm thinking that's a perfect time to add in a tile backsplash I can easily clean.

And this is pretty much my dinig room.  I already have the long, espresso brown table.  What I haven't been able to find is the right chairs.  Again, love the aqua blue table settings, the chandelier and that blue stripe all the way around the window.  Not sure about the striped chairs...what do you all think?

I did buy a small piece of art - I'm waiting for it to arrive but I thought I'd put a little marketing plug in here about the artist.  I first found her work on Etsy, I believe through Twitter.  Now I own 5 of her pieces and we are also Facebook friends.  Her name is Debi Yahl Lester and she's Debidoodah Art.  She lives in Naples, Florida and on Etsy she's Debidoodah, so please pay her a visit (and even shop - she makes beautiful cards and glass pendants from her original paintings that make lovely gifts).

This is the piece I am waiting on.  It's going to be hung above double doors that lead into our utility area.  My laundry room is good sized and I have a red LAUNDRY sign and other things in the colors of this painting that will go together really well.  The best part of all?  When I'm ironing I can look at her - and due to quilting and bag making, I iron a LOT!

Speaking of quilting...I made a queen sized quilt as a wedding gift.  Here are a few pictures of some of my favorite blocks and the quilt on a bed as I was playing around with the layout:

And, in case you think my momma has been a total slacker, in addition to reading all of the Diana Galbadon books and knitting lace, she has been working on Miss Marion the Librarian.  She did just finish her and started on another in the series, Miss Mary Mack.  She's away at their little place in Clearlake right now, so I'll post some pictures when I get back from our vacation.

Alright girls, that's all I've got in me for tonight.  I'll be posting some pictures from Maui.  We are taking my sister in-law and her hubby, our kids and our daughter's boyfriend and toddler with us and we'll be gone 7/18-7/28.  I have my punch card for FabricMart in Kahului ready!  Love to shop there, such great prices on Hawaiian fabric.

Hugs!
