I have always loved fabics by Anna Griffin. I'm especially partial to her pieces that feel like they can tell a story, so I created a linen bag to tell that story. I had just completed a cross stitch and knew it would match the fabrics I'd chosen perfectly, along with some antique Danish ribbon. I also used this bag as a way to learn how to make an inset zipper across the top. I used a great tutorial I found here: Projects by Jane .
After the bag was finished, with boxed and buttoned corners, I made a zippered coin purse and key fob. Everything was mailed to my friend Patricia in the UK and she just received it yesterday! I hope she has many years of enjoyment and use, as it's pretty big, has lots of pockets and would be perfect for taking to a flea market or using on a trip.
The red and white linen was a piece I stumbled upon at Joann's and it was the end of the bolt, so sadly I have only scraps left. I still have several yards of Anna Griffin's stamped stock certificates from the Blythe collection, though. I think I'd like to make myself some small, quilted weekender bags - the print makes me want to plan a getaway :)
...inset zipper piece...I chose dark grey to match the cross stitched pocket...
...little zippered coin purse...
...boxed and buttoned corners...
...the inside has a hardware attachment for the key fob and 3 large pockets...
...Danish ribbon trim...
...the completed set...isn't it dreamy?
